Happy Monday! We kicked off the day with a staff meeting to discuss our goals for the coming week. Some highlights:

    - We received a ton of sales orders over the weekend, and we’re coordinating with our warehouse to fulfill them. Translation? More money for you!

    - We’re working on the log-in issues with GetSatisfaction, and we hope to have the problem fixed shortly.

    - Our design team is super-committed to providing feedback on all idea submissions. Check out their comments in this week’s product evaluation.

    - The next Quick & Quirky throwdown is tentatively scheduled for March 16. We want to get y’all involved in choosing the theme, so keep checking back for updates!

    - Over the next several days, we hope to roll out a series of system upgrades — pretty new notification e-mails, a date stamp on ideas, and improvements to our community forum, including direct links to threads.

    - IT’S MOVING WEEK! We’ll spend the first half of the week packing up shop, and we hope to be settled in our new space by Thursday.

That’s all, folks… and here’s a jam to get you pumped for the week:

Hello my quirkies, a quick update on payments. I appreciate your patience.

    1. We’re working with a kickass database team to ensure that our systems are rock solid and capable of handling the number of payments that we are expecting to process every day… which is many.

    2. Gui has been diligently digging through the code and updating the influence and payment algorithms to accommodate our new changes. Trust me, it’s a lot to comprehend in your first two weeks. My hat’s off to him.

    3. Today (Wednesday) I’m going to plan out the migration with Gui and our database guys to make sure that we have our bases covered and a schedule for doing it.

    4. We’re going to test everything on our staging environment first. We want to make sure we get this right. I’ll be pulling data to that server today and prepping it for test runs.

As you can (hopefully) see, we’re close. By the end of the day, I should have a pretty good sense of where we stand. We’ve done the hard part (which is understanding this beast) and now we’re focused on applying the finishing touches to Frankenstein.

So with testing starting on Thursday, I’m looking at next week to launch this sucker and get you all PAID! Once we spark this thing to life, its gonna churn out payments to thousands of users every day for years to come. Boooya!

In the meantime, if you find yourself in need of some brain candy to tide you over, dip your hand into this virtual cookie jar of ideas and sample at will. This stuff is way more exciting than getting paid anyways.

    JK :)

    With love,
    your chief logic bomber

P.S. They have wifi in court…

    Mad For Mobiles

    By jess at 3:58 pm

This week, the Mobile World Congress — an annual conference for leaders in the mobile sphere — kicked off in Barcelona, Spain. News of big announcements and new products are already starting to stream in via the conference’s live website. Highlights from the first day include:

    - Microsoft’s unveiling of the Windows Phone 7 series, which will directly compete with the Apple and Google Android platforms.

    - Motorola’s unveiling of its eighth Android phone, called Quench. In the U.S., it will be available exclusively through T-Mobile by the end of next month.

    - An announcement by the world’s largest mobile operators, including AT&T and Sprint, on the launch of an open international applications platform to compete with Apple’s iPhone App Store.

Here at Quirky, we keep our eyes on developments in the technology world so that we can continue selecting and developing products that are relevant and fresh. Items like the Kickster, developed for the fifth-generation iPod Nano, and the new Cloak, currently in development for the yet-to-be-released iPad, are perfect examples. We’ll be monitoring the news from MWC throughout the week, and we hope you tech inventors do too.
