    Tape Stamp-A-Rama

    By brian at 4:55 pm

So the Tape Stamp is still under construction — we’re fine-tuning everything from the internal mechanism to the exterior form. As you can see above we are exploring many different form/layout options. With this project our design team is grappling with the aesthetics/ergonomics concurrently with our engineers, who are making sure the mechanism works at an appropriate size. This project is a challenging one and day by day we’re getting closer to making it a reality. It may be a little longer than expected, but we want to make sure we can get this right before we put it up for pre-sales!

We’re all very excited about the Tape Stamp. With that excitement, however, comes a lot of, “holsh, this thing is a really big great idea – and we don’t wanna $^#@ this up.”

So, we get our fancy rapid awesome machine delivered to the Quirky model shop next week. We’re going to spend a few weeks modeling out different variations of the Tape Stamp, and experimenting with various mechanical solutions / options. We promise to keep you posted throughout the way.

Here’s what you need to know: We’re not going to launch the Tape Stamp into the Quirky shop until we have a reliable, working model that we believe will be able to be manufactured at mass scale. We’re working as fast as we can on this one to assure we do everything in our power to not miss the 2010 holiday rush.

We believe in Tape Stamp. Now we just have to turn that belief into fact. We’re excited about going through a proper process here and launching the TapeStamp with a demo video/commercial to stimulate pre-sales.

So bear with the silence on this project for a bit.

    Oerrr/Out.
