    Pleased To Meet Ya

    By jess at 2:10 pm

Hey folks! I’m Jess, quirky’s brand spankin’ new Community Ambassador. What’s a Community Ambassador, you might ask? The answer is quite simple. I was hired specifically to make you, quirky’s rock star user community, happy. Yup, that’s my job description, which ROCKS because I’m a total people pleaser, the kind that says “sorry” when someone else bumps into them on the subway. I blame my island upbringing — I am from Guam, a tiny, tropical U.S. territory in the middle of the Pacific that prides itself on its hospitality. Read more about Guam here, or here, or watch Stephen Colbert poke fun at it here:

Us Guamanians are naturally friendly folk, which gave me adequate prep for my new responsibilities here at quirky: solving problems, answering questions, moderating discussions, and basically ensuring that your quirky experience is the best it can be. Oh yeah, and I’ll also be taking charge of the quirky blog. Here’s where you come in — I want to know exactly what you want to see here. Industry news? User bios? Zany products on the market? Senseless ramblings from our caffeine-overloaded staff? Let me know, and I’ll make it happen. Hit me up anytime, anywhere at jess@quirky.com.

So excited to be on board!

P.S. This photo was taken a couple of weeks ago during a lazy December Sunday on the family beach. I mentioned Guam was paradise, right?

Ahoy!   We’re rockin’ out early on a Sunday morning here at Quirky HQ…..

Quirky, Marc Zech of Split Stick fame, and the Digidude are all featured quite prominently in todays New York Times Magazine.   You can read the article right here on the interwebs,  or run out to your local starbucks and grab a copy.

nytimesSo, welcome to any new eyeballs that have found our little website from the Times… Thank you to Rob Walker for the great coverage, and congratulations to the entire community for the work done thus far– and the work about to be done in the coming weeks and month.

This should be a super fun week coming up, we have something interesting planned– not sure if it will work as good as it sounds in my cabeza, but we’ll give it a go anyway.

    Our Latest Quirk

    By nikki at 11:45 am

We are pleased to announce the newest member of the quirky team. We’ve scooped Brian Kerr out of the community! You might remember him, the guy behind Watt Time? Well, he definitely stuck out as an all star quirky community member and contributer. We were cranking hard on our end and in need of another designer. Thankfully, Brian was excited to get started and is now a full time member of the quirky team.
    Brian Kerr

Even though he’s gone from two of the most despised social classes of the rest of the quirky team (he’s gone from Hippie to Hipster (New Hampshire –> Brooklyn))… we are super happy to have scooped Brian Kerr out from the quirky community. He studied painting and design at UNH and received his masters in Industrial Design from Pratt. Brian is enamored by folding bicycles, tea, coffee, and all of their overly designed brewing paraphernalia. BK from BK spends his days and nights knee deep in styrofoam prototypes– and often sprays the shavings everywhere when he taps violently on the table because he misses his snare drum. This episode of meet the team brought to you by Designers like Brian and viewers like you… (read: Brian loves NPR)
