I’ve been with Quirky for about a month now as the new addition to the Finance/Operations team, and have hit the proverbial “ground” running at ungodly speed since Day 1. Coming from a big accounting firm, I’m definitely elated to be missing audit busy season this year. Instead, I’ve plunged grill-first into making sure the Quirky books and financials are immaculate.

I’m super excited to be joining a skilled team of Excel-savvy number enthusiasts who are as well versed in the cryptic language of accounting as they are with the best places to eat in the city (lots of foodies here). And to prove my enthusiasm, I’ve decided to paint my apartment walls Quirky purple!

    Just kidding…

My accent wall at home (pictured) is actually uncannily similar to that of our SoHo office — talk about having trouble distinguishing between if I’m at work or at home! Some fun stuff about me outside of work:

    - I enjoy winter sports and snowboarding in small groups.

    - I spend more hours during the week window-shopping or browsing online than I do sleeping.

    - I have an alter ego as a prolific underground poker player.

Hello Quirky folks! I’m Susan and I am thrilled to officially be a part of the Quirky team!

I come from the far away land over the bridge called Queens — the “other” New York. But I’ve moved every few years for the last half of my life, finally making my original home my last home.

As Quirky’s Office Manager (aka Ninja) I’m here to do everything and anything to help the office run smoothly. I’ll also be paying the community (you!) — so you can also call me Money Honey.

Why am I quirky, you ask? Because I’m a triple threat — I can fix your jet engine, knit you a scarf, and do your taxes.

    Hello Quirky!

I’m John, the one that’s tardy in putting up his intro. The good news is I am tardy because the finance and ops teams have been myopically focused on getting your great products to market in time for the holidays and counting up the mad cash you will be banking from your influence.

I was born and raised in southern New Jersey, where I still reside with my family. During the week, I am here in NY working day and night with the Quirky team. On the weekends, I cherish every moment of the time that I get to spend with my family!

As for my quirks, perhaps the most notable is how I litter our house with books. In fact, so much so that my wife converted one of our linen closets into book storage. In addition to having more books than I could ever possibly read, I have innumerable interests but my favorite is spending time in the great outdoors. Give me a day with friends and family with nothing but a open fire and a tent and I am happiest guy in the world.

So, for now, all I can say is that is not possible for me to be more excited to be part of the amazing team here in quirklyland and I look forward to all of the amazing things that we will accomplish on the road ahead!!

    John

Longtime friend, and fellow Ben, Ben Machado spent a day or so capturing the madness that occurs at Quirky HQ.

Captured last Friday, this is a true glimpse into the madness of the Quirky Hive.

Mucho Props to Mr. Machado for this video – what a talented dude.

    Howdy From Jess F!

    By jess at 7:12 pm

    Hey you Quirks!

My name is Jess… not to be confused with Jess, so you can call me Jess F! I will be helping make your wildest dreams come true as part of the Quirky Design Staff.

I hail from the south but moved to Brooklyn, where I recently graduated from Pratt Institute. I hope to bring to the Quirky community an innovative and playful outlook on design. Colors, textures, materials, and manufacturing drives me nuts (in a good way!).

Over the years I’ve felt myself becoming quirkier; I collect objects that have no home, I have more hobbies than I have time, and at night I cuddle up with the least soft pet around, my hedgehog Pointcetto.

I look forward to learning more about you all as well as working with this brilliant design team!

Keep sending in your wildest dreams and stay golden,
    Jess F

Hey there all you quirky boys and girls!

After a few months of helping the Quirky design team push your brilliant ideas through our crazy process, I think it’s about time I introduce myself.

I’m Adam… nice to meet you!

I have been freelancing at Quirky for a few months, but I am happy to announce, I’m here to stay. I can’t begin to tell you how exhilarating it is working at Quirky.  Not only is there more energy and passion running through this office than any other, but having an enormous community with an equal amount of passion working with us is truly inspiring.

Previous to Quirky, I had been working for product design consultancies around NYC, but none of them were quite quirky enough for me. I have a passion for creating meaningful products that solve real world problems…. I’m thrilled to be working at a place that, with your help, can make that happen!!

Want to know more? I can be bribed into revealing all of my quirks with candy… or beer… or most anything delicious.

Can’t wait to work with all of you!

    – Adam

    Hello Everyone,

It’s great to be on board as a junior industrial designer!!! I am extremely excited to be apart of the Quirky community and to witness, first hand, the amazing things to come in the future of social product design. I was born and raised in California and spent most of my childhood in LA and then moved to the San Francisco area. Ever since I could remember, I was altering or taking apart any object I could put my hands on, from power wheels to my sister’s bike. I was lucky enough to find Industrial Design to help me release my creative juices. My education and working experience in the Silicon Valley and Paris have provided me with a diverse set of challenges in design and have only solidified my passion for creation. I have learned that the more I expose myself to different culture, art, and people, the more inspiring my world will become. I have never met such a passionate team of designers and community members and feel honored to be apart of this great challenge.

Service is important at Quirky. And we know from experience that good service only comes when the people providing it are genuine and believe wholeheartedly in what they do.

Our two newest Community Ambassadors — Rob and Marni — definitely fit that bill. You wouldn’t believe the passion they have for Quirky’s community… and they’ve only been here a few days! Plus, they’re funny, smart, and cool as hell. You’ll love ‘em, I know it.

You’ll start to see them popping up on e-mail, phones, and Get Satisfaction in the coming weeks. They’re eager to get to know you all, so say “howdy” when you get the chance!

    Hey Quirksters,

    My name’s Rob, what’s yours?

    ::pause::

Well, [Insert Name] it’s damn nice to meet ya!

I come to you from Agencyland, a magical place filled with buzzwords and high-functioning alcoholics, where nothing ever really gets done but everyone manages to keep their jobs.

Why leave Agencyland, you ask? Great question!

I was tired of nothing of consequence ever happening, so I set out on a quest to find a place where everything of consequence always happens, and that led me here, to Quirky, to you. I’m absolutely thrilled I am to be part of an awesome community that makes awesome shit all the time!

I’m ready to dig in, get my hands dirty, and help you help us all.

So make like Pat Benatar and Hit Me With Your Best Shot (or Treat Me Right, really it’s up to you.)

I’ll see you on the (Love Is A) battlefield!

    x0x0, Rob (rob@quirky.com)

Why, hello there Quirks and Quirkettes!

My name is Marni and I’ll be joining Jess, Shirley and Rob as your new Community Ambassador. Hoodihoo! I’m so jazzed to be here and to get to know you, getting to know all about you (a la Julie Andrews.)

And because inquiring minds want to know, here are four very crucial facts about yours truly:

    1. After being rejected from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft & Wizardry, I attended Cornell University where I discovered the true meaning of winter.

    2. I have a degree in Apparel Design and a background in the fashion industry. Despite this, I enjoy wearing flannel onesie PJS.

    3. I am a speed-reader. I wish I had a cooler talent to share with all of you, but I just read very fast.

    4. I lied. I am also really, really good at Pictionary.

I’m truly delighted to join the absolutely amazing team here at Quirky.  As Bogey says, I think this is the start of a beautiful friendship.

    Love, Marni (marni@quirky.com)

Oh hi, Quirks! I’m Nancy, or Pei-Pei (see About Us for elaboration), and I am so excited to be the newest addition to the Finance/Ops team!

I was brought on to manage the growing Quirky inventory from all our sweet products. With two product selections a week now, a growing retail presence, and holiday season right around the corner, I’m here to make sure the products are where they’re supposed to be and ready for business. I’ll be diving right in to build the inventory accounting function and compulsively track your products from start to finish.

The Finance/Ops crew made it very clear that I need to bring number crunching to a whole new level of kickass. I agree, so on my first day I showed them a product analysis file AND a box of scones. How ‘bout them apples? In short, I’m here to make things happen and have a lot of fun doing it. I’m feeling all sorts of fantastic about this because the amount of intelligence, creativity, and passion in this office is unbelievable and I am so happy to be a part of this team.

Now, some random snippets of delight about me:

I fist-pumped my way across the Pacific Ocean at the ripe age of 4 because someone told me there were unicorns in America. This was a cruel and unfunny joke. To soothe my heartache, my parents (HI MOM AND DAD) bought me a Chow-Chow puppy, which is some sort of hybrid between a lion, a grizzly bear, and a piece of popcorn, with a purple tongue. Pei-Pei and Chow-Chow… I can’t make this up.

Anyone who has ever seen me in the presence of a candy bar knows to physically restrain me because I will eat a 2 lb. bag of jelly bellies in one sitting then curl up in fetal position for the rest of the night on the floor.

I really like headbands. The more offensive, the better. Sometimes I like to bring out the good ol’ mini sequined top hat headband, which drops my friend count faster than Speedy Gonzalez.

I frequently think about how cool it was when we got bathed in bowls when we were babies. Granted I picture a giant white porcelain bowl with perfect soapy bubbles, but I’m just sayin’…

Every day I find myself dressing just a liiiittle bit more like a penguin.  I’ve realized there’s really no use in fighting it.

    Rock With Ruthea

    By ruthea at 4:47 pm

Hey Quirksters! I am Quirky’s new Community Intern. I am so psyched to be here and I’m really excited to learn all about Quirky’s inner workings from customer service to media to, well, the whole product development process.

I’m interested in languages, marketing, business, technology, and physics. I enjoy skiing, long distance running and cycling, anything adventurous, good coffee, and large jewelry. Indie rock, electronic, hip-hop, and remixes and mashes of all of them take up the majority of the space on my little red iPod (I consider it my best friend, seeing as it is always with me)! I almost never have days when I don’t smile… I really dislike those rare, rare occasions.

    Name: Ruthea Noteware

School: NYU in the Gallatin School of Individualized Study, Class of 2014

Hometown: Tricky question, I was born in center city Philadelphia, grew up in Houston, TX, and went to high school in Bozeman, MT.

What makes me quirky? I love peanuts and/or cashews with honey atop vanilla ice cream. I have a slight obsession with owls (mostly because I think they’re wise and they make very cool jewelry pendants). Thrift store exploration is a seasonal affair for me, and I write in cursive.
