Quirky On CNN Money
Quirky rocked it on CNN Money — and made the homepage!
“My Tech Guy” Doug Delony explains how Quirky products make the perfect gifts for Dad on Fox 26 in Houston.
As y’all probably heard, we received some pretty great press last week after news of our big raise was unveiled. Some of the reports were so effusive, we blushed! Here are some of our favorite sound bites…
Against the odds, Quirky has quickly evolved from a weird (but good) idea into a viable business.
Quirky is probably the most interesting experiment in how products are designed and produced in recent memory. But when they launched, they seemed like a bold but ultimately wild-eyed idea. No more …
According to Fast Company, Quirky (though initially consider a bit too “quirky” to be relevant by the business publication) has been awarded $6 million in Series A investment funding. Not bad for the oddball company that had to prove its relevance and, even more challenging, prove that being different is still worth gambling on.
Quirky is a platform for product ideas that are born on napkin doodles and in other unorthodox ways.
I joined Quirky several months ago, skeptical of the concept (underwater waffle iron, anyone?) but enthusiastic about the principal. In this era of “Make” mentality, shouldn’t all our great ideas be marketable? Why should the Frog Design or IDEOs of the world be allowed to do all the fun invention and product design?
Quirky has validated the inventor in all of us and made it both fun and accessible to pitch your idea.

We discovered this fun fact while Ben was filming a segment for El Economista, a CNBC Spanish-language affiliate, today at Quirky HQ.
The DigiDude made an appearance on this morning’s episode of The Today Show, in a segment presented by Us Weekly’s Jill Martin called Hot Gifts For Your Valentine. That’s right, folks, the DigiDude is a hot, hot gift. So smokin’, in fact, that Al Roker said, “Whoa, that’s pretty cool! Actually, this would be great for Ann!” while Ann Curry made a “call me” hand gesture.

She is all about it. We’re waiting on the order from Mr. Curry.
Ahoy! We’re rockin’ out early on a Sunday morning here at Quirky HQ…..
Quirky, Marc Zech of Split Stick fame, and the Digidude are all featured quite prominently in todays New York Times Magazine. You can read the article right here on the interwebs, or run out to your local starbucks and grab a copy.
So, welcome to any new eyeballs that have found our little website from the Times… Thank you to Rob Walker for the great coverage, and congratulations to the entire community for the work done thus far– and the work about to be done in the coming weeks and month.
This should be a super fun week coming up, we have something interesting planned– not sure if it will work as good as it sounds in my cabeza, but we’ll give it a go anyway.
