  Pre-Sale Deal Changes: Pivot Power & Onward

  We’re gearing up to launch Pivot Power (which we all adore), but I’d like to bring to your attention a few minor changes we’ll be making to the pre-sale phase on Quirky, beginning with today’s launch.

  1. There will no longer be free shipping in the U.S. associated with pre-sale. Instead we will provide as aggressive a discount as we’re able to.

  2. People that buy in pre-sale will be shipped a laser-etched version of the product, with the # of the unit that they committed to. (also known as awesome)

  Remember: committing in pre-sale actually makes you money on every unit that ships, anywhere in the world… in perpetuity.

  Your purchase immediately makes you an influencer in the product. By way of example, someone who committed to Cloak in pre-sale earned 0.038% influence in the product. They are all set to make close to half their money back on their purchase ($15.37), just by getting in early. Pretty soon, they’ll have gotten the Cloak for free (due to reward payments equaling their purchase price), and then it won’t be long until they’re in the green.

  Getting in on pre-sale is powerful. Numbers with as many decimals as 0.038 sound really small. But once the product goes into distribution, and we start talking in terms of hundreds of thousands of units, we’re talking real money. Selling just 100,000 units of Cloak would net a participant in pre-sale nearly 500 dollars. Insane!

  We realize that the site needs to do a better job of telling this story to stimulate more pre-sales… and we’re working on it.

  Go “Green” With Petal Drops, Quirky’s 10th Product To Go Into Production

  There’s no better way to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day than with the announcement that Quirky’s 10th product — a “green” product, no less! – has met its pre-sale threshold and is ready to go into production. Petal Drops was the community’s answer to Quirky’s call for sustainable, eco-friendly products during a Quick & Quirky throwdown last December. We’re excited to get it made, and tickled by the coincidental launch date!

  

  Designed by the Quirky community in just 24 hours, Petal Drops is a flower-shaped funnel that fits on top of standard threaded water and soda bottles, providing users with the chance to easily and elegantly capture rain water and repurpose it for watering plants. Rainy days may not seem so bad anymore.

  Here’s how it works:

  1. Set your bottle, with attached Petal Drop, in your desired location and place some pebbles in the bottle if it’s a particularly windy day.

  2. Once it starts to rain, you’ll watch as the petals act as a super funnel, collecting and storing rain water quickly and efficiently in the bottle you were oh-so-close to chucking.

  3. Once the bottle is full, pour out the water wherever you choose… feed that thirsty plant, wash the chalk off your driveway, or give Fido a bath.

  Constructed out of 100% recycled HDPE, Petal Drops’ contemporary flower shape makes it a product you won’t mind placing in your garden or on your patio — it might even blend right in!

  Weigh To Go is a multi-functional travel accessory whose compact form packs a digital scale, identification tag, and built-in lock to prevent theft. Tired of overweight baggage fees? With Weigh To Go, you can know before you stow!

  Weigh To Go’s slim interface is made up of:

  - A high gloss ABS plastic shell with a rubber bumper surrounding the exterior for protection while in transit.

  - A durable steel carabiner with a built-in combination lock. The combination can be reset by the user.

  - Two velcro straps that wrap around the underside of the luggage handle to secure the unit down.

  - A battery-powered scale for measuring weight.

  To use Weigh To Go, just press the power button and set your unit — pounds or kilograms. Reset the weight to zero by pressing the tare button, and release the velcro straps from the underside of the luggage handle, making sure the steel carabiner is secured. Grab the Weigh To Go body and pull upward, lifting the suitcase gently off the ground.

  Once the luggage is lifted for about five seconds, slowly lower and rest the suitcase on the ground. The Weigh To Go handle will display a recording of the weight on its digital interface. To shut the unit off, press power button again or wait 45 seconds and it will power off automatically.
