This past weekend, a crack team of Quirky designers and engineers left New York to head to Maker Faire Bay Area. There, at the GE Garages, they were tasked with developing and building the prototype for the Smart Milk Jug in front of a live (and captivated) audience.
Saturday started with a live brainstorm, where the topics ranged from form factor, to use cases to chemistry.

Once the brainstorm concluded, and a design was picked, JJ, our Head of Engineering began working on the 3D renders.

We were lucky enough to have the inventor, Stephanie Burns, on site to share her vision and get hands on in developing her product.

Once Sunday rolled around we got down to the fun stuff. Zach, our master electrical engineer worked on setting up the pH balance sensors and weight sensors.

It wouldn’t be Maker Faire without some kids wearing respirators, working with high-density foam.

We even sent out CAD files to get some pieces 3D printed overnight.

After two days of development we had our first model of the milk jug.
