Seems like every week, we’re congratulating prolific inventor Marc Zech for something. Tonight, Steeper Keeper just moved into production. So once again, a big congrats to Marc and the rest of the Quirky community. We’re eager to start making this gorgeous lil mug!

First time I saw this and it’s great. My wife is requesting an extra tall cup be also made. Very cool.

Congrats again Marc. I’m relatively new to the community with respect to this product so not sure if it has been discussed already but I see a flaw in the design rendered. I see no need to have a notch at the rim of the cup. The slot on the handle should work ok without the notch. I see the notch as a drawback since you can not fill the cup that high and I can see people overfilling unknowingly and burning themselves as the boiling water pours through the notch and down the handle. Yikes… Is it just me or do others see this problem as well.

Yep Denny, we do see the problem with the notch.
As you point out, people don’t normally put 8oz of water in a cup, they normally fill the cup up. So, if Q is saying, “8oz is well below the level of the notch, so no issue…”, they are ignoring what people normally do. And it’s a functional problem.
Plus, the notch looks like a dribble problem waiting to happen to me…it would keep me from buying it (not make me want to buy it)…I’m an “everyday” consumer…so it’s probably a sales problem too.
If the ends of the slit in the handle gradually come together (v-shaped), they will grab the string as it’s pulled through and the cup will be super functional.

We definitely test and refine details during the production process to ensure high quality. I’ll pass your concerns along to QDS.

Consider the notch nixed.
