Teree LeSueur is a substitute teacher from Texas. She has a passion for apparel design and fashion. In her spare time, she creates new patterns for her women’s clothing line. One day, when she was coming up with her latest design she found it frustrating to use the current technique of a ruler and pen for seam allowance and thought there should be a better way. Her product idea incorporates features that will allow any seamstress or quilter a convenient, reliable way to mark seam allowance. The main advantage of using her invention idea is that the measuring device does not have to be lifted off of the pattern while marking and you can pre-set the desired measurement distance.
The design team agreed and thought that Teree’s idea was a super fast way to mark your seams or stitch lines when working with patterns. They loved the adjustability feature since different scenarios need different allowances. The design team will look into developing this product to work with the existing marking tools for sewing. The marketing team felt this market seems to be untouched in terms of new ideas and products. The viability team qualified the endeavor because it would be simple to make and they found little to no infringement risks.

Men sew too! Seamstress is a rather antiquated, sexist term imo.

@d, what would you prefer? Seamstro, like a bro? Or seamsperson? Ooh, maybe just kick it up a notch to The Seamsinator!
