The DigiDude made an appearance on this morning’s episode of The Today Show, in a segment presented by Us Weekly’s Jill Martin called Hot Gifts For Your Valentine. That’s right, folks, the DigiDude is a hot, hot gift. So smokin’, in fact, that Al Roker said, “Whoa, that’s pretty cool! Actually, this would be great for Ann!” while Ann Curry made a “call me” hand gesture.

She is all about it. We’re waiting on the order from Mr. Curry.

Community member Stephen Bozzone – i.e. the “Invention Addict” — blogged yesterday on his tips to success on Quirky. With six U.S. patents and 17 years of product development experience under his belt, Stephen offers up some pretty great advice. His main points:

    1) Find a good problem to solve. People don’t buy products, they buy solutions.

    2) Do your homework. Google is your first step.

    3) Keep it simple. The best ideas are the ones that are so simple that they are elegant.

    4) Carefully craft your pitch. Get inside the head of the consumer and try to tap into the emotions associated with the problem you’re solving.

    5) Make it like a bikini. Your idea submission should be large enough to cover everything but small enough to keep it interesting.

Stephen also invites Quirky users to run their ideas past him; he promises not to steal. That’s the kind of community spirit we like! Thanks, Steve.

The Snow Shredder is now up for pre-sale… get it while it’s hot! Well actually, get it while it’s still cold. You know what we mean.

Commit to your Snow Shredder for just $67.

Get ready for some thrills and chills this winter… it’s time to bring on the hills with quirky’s new Snow Shredder. The Snow Shredder is the ultimate in winter sleds, comfortably fitting two kids, aged six and up, in its roomy seating area.

Here’s what makes this sled so cool:
    – A headlight in the front of the sled, with an easy on-off button, allows for fun night sledding
    – A retractable handle makes it easy to carry the sled uphill for your next ride
    – A steering wheel up front lets YOU take control of your ride, while three adjustable steering wheel heights allow you to cruise in comfort
    – Extra handles are located in the back of the sled for the backseat sledder to hold onto (it can get scary back there!)

    This sled is made of polypropylene. Its over-all dimensions are 60in x 21in x 12in, and the seating area is 39in x 17in x 6in.

There once was a collectible plastic dinosaur. His name was Tiny Dino.

Tiny Dino lived and worked at the offices of a social product development company called quirky. At first, he was a vital part of the team, a hard worker who responded to customer service queries in a friendly, timely fashion. His vivacious spirit touched everyone who came in contact with him, and his witty banter never failed to elicit a chuckle from the staff.

But then, Tiny Dino started losing his mojo. The temptations of Manhattan, with its bright lights and its long nights, became too much for him. He fell, and he fell hard.

In the coming weeks, we will be chronicling the adventures and misadventures that contributed to the demise of Tiny D. Stay tuned…

    Pleased To Meet Ya

    By jess at 2:10 pm

Hey folks! I’m Jess, quirky’s brand spankin’ new Community Ambassador. What’s a Community Ambassador, you might ask? The answer is quite simple. I was hired specifically to make you, quirky’s rock star user community, happy. Yup, that’s my job description, which ROCKS because I’m a total people pleaser, the kind that says “sorry” when someone else bumps into them on the subway. I blame my island upbringing — I am from Guam, a tiny, tropical U.S. territory in the middle of the Pacific that prides itself on its hospitality. Read more about Guam here, or here, or watch Stephen Colbert poke fun at it here:

Us Guamanians are naturally friendly folk, which gave me adequate prep for my new responsibilities here at quirky: solving problems, answering questions, moderating discussions, and basically ensuring that your quirky experience is the best it can be. Oh yeah, and I’ll also be taking charge of the quirky blog. Here’s where you come in — I want to know exactly what you want to see here. Industry news? User bios? Zany products on the market? Senseless ramblings from our caffeine-overloaded staff? Let me know, and I’ll make it happen. Hit me up anytime, anywhere at jess@quirky.com.

So excited to be on board!

P.S. This photo was taken a couple of weeks ago during a lazy December Sunday on the family beach. I mentioned Guam was paradise, right?
