UBS is where you can hide your offshore accounts. Maybe this UBS USB device of Quirky's somehow helps you keep your legal accounts seperate from your hidden ones. Shame on Quirky. :)

I'm willing to bet the interviewer is so used to saying UBS that he tripped up...sounded like he realized his mistake while talking. It happens.

Thanks all for your comments.

Edwin/James-- as for the vanilla factor this may come across weirdly... but we partially agree.

That's why we've setup quirky's influence model / team accordingly. You have your "crowd" as your calling it (hate that word), and then we have an expert on-staff design team that you'd see at any other consumer product company. Working together to not just identify good ideas (like yours, edwin)... but actually use the back/forth collaborative nature to improve them in the process.

We have tons of thoughts / research on this and are looking forward to making this blog a more prominent place on the site, and one where we can ramble on about our theories/plans so that you guys can become more involved in the business... rather then just the products.

Carry on.

@james: I do also hope that the writer will be proven wrong. Although I also think it has a lot of truth in it. Individuals should be able to access a community with their idea, but should be able to keep ownership. I think I have to agree with the writer, considering my current experience with having a product chosen, and having seen it go in a totally different direction.... from a possible mass-produced-simple-product, to a gadget-thingy...

I agree with Matt, the blog should be more visible. Good job on the interview! Nice to see a personality. Hope to see more interviews in the future!

BTW: I am reading the "You are not a Gadget" book....it's not friendly towards social networks and crowd sourcing. I hope Quirky proves the author wrong in some ways and right in others. The author states that crowds produce vanilla outcomes and that only individuals produce innovative results. I hope to see this site prove that individuals acting together (not anonymously) can produce amazing things. I also hope that those individuals are rewarded for their contributions for everything they put into the success of this experiment.

Go Quirky!

This is a great clip (congrats!). Movin' on up and up!

However, it was really hard to find this valuable blog. I wonder why the link on Quirky.com to the blog is tiny text at the bottom right of the page. I am bookmarking it, but I wonder how many people don't know about this blog (like me until I happened to stumble upon it).
