In just a few moments, all of those who pre-ordered a split stick will receive an email with instructions on how to choose their color/etch & complete their order. Orders completed this weekend will all ship out on Monday. A few important notes:
- Pink is backordered through mid-month
- Payouts will begin taking place mid-week next week (to allow for all pre-orders to be completed)
- Your influence in split stick may grow (you’ll see in influence bonus on your page), if some who pre-orderd their product do not claim their units– we are allowing 10 days for order completion before doing an influence audit.
- All SplitStick pre-orders will ship complementary FedEx, becasue we’re that excited about getting you your product
- If you have second thoughts, you can cancel your order– but you’ll forfeit your influence
Thats all from us, we’re going to spend the weekend packing boxes. Horray!

If I pre-ordered but didn’t get an email about it yet, should I be worried?

Wow – I got the e-mail yesterday, and everytime I try to complete my order I get:
******************************************
We’re sorry, but something went wrong.
We’ve been notified about this issue and we’ll take a look at it shortly.
(If you’re the administrator of this website, then please read the log file “production.log” to find out what went wrong.)
******************************************
I’ve sent an email to support with no reply.
Not what I expected so far.

tifosiv122, they’re a small, brand new company. If there’s an issue, I’m sure you’re not the only one having it, so that means their team is working on fixing it. They can only do so much at once.

I did not get the email either.

Why was I removed from this product commitment?

“5. If you have second thoughts, you can cancel your order– but you’ll forfeit your influence” — Is that ALL influence we’d be forfeiting, or just the portion of influence we earned through pre-ordering?

A big well done to you guys and gals at quirky. The product had a really quick turnaround from concept to real life.
A big thanks about the shipping too, I’m really looking forward to getting hold of the splitstick!
Joe.

Did they ship yesterday?

Anybody who’s received their Split Stick willing to offer up a quick product review? I’d be interested in hearing what the masses thought before buying one. Thanks.

I recently received the split stick. It is very solid and aesthetically pleasing, with rubber on both ends where the stick comes out. What spoils the design is the very stiff extension mechanism. It is very hard to switch into the different positions. Hopefully it will loosen with time, but it is not smooth like my other retractable usb stick.

I received mine yesterday. To echo the above – the product really looks great. The printed symbols really stand out (I have the black version) and it feels good. The switching mechanism is problematic and feels flimsy and difficult at the same time. When I “slide” the switch, there is a lot of resistance and it feels like the thing might snap in half. Hopefully it will loosen up. For now, if you put pressure on the switch while you slide it, it makes things a bit more effective.

Seems to be some problems with the switching/sliding mechanism which is, like, the main feature of this product. If that breaks or falls off (see other review on http://www.quirky.com/products/6-Split-Stick then you’re stuck with a stick, not a split stick, and you might lose access to half of your files. Still, I love the concept. Maybe I’ll wait for the Split Stick 2.0.

Thanks for shipping mine to the wrong fucking address. I know i put in my current one, so thanks for shipping it to my billing address. Now that is a special trip I need to make 5 hours out of my way. Thanks again for fucking up.
ben kaufman | 10/12/2009 11:40 AM
hey nemrock-
Driving 5 hours sounds like no fun. Especially when something is our fault.
How about shooting us an email and we’ll just send you another one?
That may be easier.

It’s mid month. Is pink available yet?
October | 10/19/2009 12:57 PM
Does it really take 3 days for quirky to answer a simple “yes” or “no” customer service question? Get your heads out from under the vodka luge and check your freakin’ website once in a while.
I repeat: It’s mid month. Is pink available yet?
ben kaufman | 10/19/2009 12:58 PM
Yes, pink is available! has been since around the 9th.
October | 10/19/2009 1:26 PM
Thanks for the update. Does it look like the shiny pink split stick in the rendering, or more like the flat line drawing?
ben kaufman | 10/19/2009 1:28 PM
Shiny sounds about right.
Good point though, we’ll update the site with pink pictures in a bit. Just waiting for the photos to come back from the studio
