Hello Faithful Quirks.
I have some news. I made a video to share this news with you, however i dragged on for 4 minutes of jetlagged induced enthusiasm. Most of you won’t listen to a 4 minute video– so here is what you need to know.
- I’m in Hong Kong
- The Split Stick is very awesome
- I ate dim sum today
I suppose you want more detail? Fine!
- The Split Stick is now production approved, and I have a few in my possession
- The colors to start will be dark gray, orange, and pink (others will follow shortly thereafter)
- We doubled the memory capacity of the product from 2×2 to 4×4. You heard right…. 8 GIGABYTES TOTAL. That’s some large black bean curd, people.
- The packaging is kick-ass, and carries marc’s photo along with the names of all 377 splitstick influencers
- The factory will begin shipping to the US within the next 5-7 days, and then we will turn around and ship things to you within a few days of receiving them to our office/warehouse.
- You’ll be able to choose your etching prior to shipment
- I ate dim sum today
- I’m awfully redundant.
Until I return,
Ben

Where in the terms and conditions does it say that we let you use our names on the product packaging (not that I had any influence on the Split Stick)?

Hmmm… Doesn’t look nearly as nice as the Split Stick advertised on the site. And the symbols on the two ends of the drive are all different, too.

Good work – looking forward to seeing the finished article! I do like the names idea – though think about giving people the right to say no if they don’t want their name included – as there may be some who want to remain anonymous.

Hey “r” – I think we need to see the other colours. And see point 6 above – “You’ll be able to choose your etching prior to shipment”.

Submissions not working for Q Brix logo design project.
Kaotick | 09/24/2009 8:39 PM
For the pre-orders are you upgrading it to 2 by 2? Or are you upgrading it for us, since we are so loyal? =]

Submissions for the toothbrush naming project are limited to four? Didn’t it used to be ten ideas you could submit?

Cool. Ben’s in hardcover now:
“Upstarts!: How GenY Entrepreneurs are Rocking the World of Business and 8 Ways You Can Profit from Their Success”
By Donna Fenn
Released August 18, 2009 by McGraw-Hill
Here’s a quote:
[Ben Kaufman] now has seven advertising agencies that pay him $10,000 to $20,000 a month to license the software, which facilitates idea sharing among employees. He’s also using the technology for his own projects, such as a website called “NameThis,” where customer [sic] pay $99 to have an online community come up with clever name [sic] for their new companies or projects. With just under $1 million in revenue, Kaufman expects Kluster to break even in 2009.

Glad to see that product from creation finally comes to reality.
